The street style scene is where early adopters test out upcoming trends, and Couture Fashion Week in Paris is where the best-dressed people in fashion debut the biggest trends of the moment first. There, fashion insiders were already spotted wearing some of the major trends expected to dominate the second half of 2023.

While there are plenty of noteworthy looks, I'm especially interested in emerging trends that will define outfits in the coming months. Ahead, I'm highlighting six major trends I spotted on the streets of Paris, from directional dresses and statement earrings to cool flats that will be everywhere and the designer denim that will make you rethink the jeans you're wearing. Sheer is the trend that just won't quit, and it has arrived on the streets of Paris in one of the most directional versions yet. Reimagined, elegant styles are taking center stage, so look for pieces with corseted details and halterneck silhouettes.

Ballerina flats are one of the most talked-about trends of the moment, and they have a presence everywhere, from looks on Instagram to the front row at Couture Fashion Week in Paris. Look for everything, from the classic round-toe version to the sharply-pointed style from The Row that is already rising to It-shoe status.

White trousers aren't exactly new on the fashion-trend circuit, but they are only solidifying themselves as a mainstay in the fashion-insider wardrobe. Paired with a simple tee, sleek belt, sandals, and and a slouchy bag, they are worthy of a Couture Week street style look.
